10 YEAR GUARANTEE
At The Traditional Window Company, all our double-glazed timber windows and doors come with a 10-year guarantee against faults caused by defective materials or workmanship in the timber construction.
Our standard sealed double-glazed units are also guaranteed for 10 years against seal failure, which is indicated by condensation forming between the panes (breakage is not covered). If this occurs, we will replace the affected unit free of charge with the closest available match at the time, accounting for any changes in glazing technology. During the first five years, the guarantee covers both the cost of the unit and installation. In the following five years, the guarantee covers the cost of supplying the replacement unit only. Replacement units come with a 5-year guarantee. Other glass defects are not covered.
Weather seals carry a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Hardware components such as hinges, catches, fasteners, handles, and locks are guaranteed against mechanical failure for five years, including replacement and installation costs. Surface finishes on all fittings, fixings, and ironmongery are covered for 12 months.
Our Accoya® wood joinery benefits from a 50-year guarantee against rot (terms and conditions of the Accoya® warranty apply and are available upon request).
This guarantee is conditional upon compliance with the recommended maintenance and redecorating schedule.
Depending on location and exposure to weather, joinery may require a maintenance coat every 2-3 years, or more frequently in harsher environments. Non-Accoya timber requires more regular inspection and maintenance. Oak joinery finished with translucent coatings should be inspected and potentially recoated every six months. Annual cleaning and inspection are also necessary.
Please note, the guarantee does not cover the cost of maintenance coats, cleaning, or inspection.
If maintenance guidelines are followed, only minimal preparation and a single coat of redecoration will be needed at the recommended intervals, as detailed in our care and maintenance guide.
The guarantee excludes damage beyond our control, including damage occurring after delivery or installation, natural disasters, misuse, improper installation by third parties, defective surrounding brickwork or rendering, accidents, malicious damage, or inadequate timber maintenance. Use of yacht varnish, polyurethane varnish, harsh cleaning chemicals, non-microporous timber treatments, or traditional wood treatments that seal the timber surface will invalidate the guarantee. As timber is a natural material subject to expansion and contraction with environmental changes, minor movement cannot be guaranteed against.
The guarantee is transferable upon sale of the property, subject to an administration fee via FENSA.
